FAQ

Read on for the answers to some frequently asked questions! If you don't find what you're looking for, drop us an email, text, or call.

How do I donate bikes?

Bikes may be donated during open shop hours, Tuesday thru Thursday from 12 - 6 pm. Just show up with your donation and we'll be glad to help unload. The shop address is 311 East Council St., Salisbury NC 28144.

Can I donate my old broken bike?

We accept all bicycles. While we prefer receiving bikes in better condition, we won't turn away your dirty, broken cruiser that's been sitting since the 70's. If we can't repair or refurbish a bike, we will harvest the good parts and recycle the rest.

Do you accept used parts and accessories? Bike Racks?

We do accept used parts, gear and accessories, including vehicle racks.

I don't have a way to get my bikes to you - will you pick them up?

Depending on the distance and amount of bikes, we can often arrange to have a volunteer pick up donation bikes.

I would like to volunteer. What do I need to do?

We're currently open for volunteer service during shop hours. We welcome any and all who would like to contribute to the shop in some way. Please send us an email to get started. Occasionally we have community events and programming outside the shop, but our greatest needs are the ongoing tasks that keep the shop running.

Is there an age requirement for volunteers?

We welcome all ages to volunteer but ask that parents stay to supervise any youth 10 years old and under. Working as a family is very rewarding and fun!

Do I need to know about bikes to volunteer?

Nope! There are plenty of things that help us out. Volunteers can choose from a variety of tasks - anything from sweeping the floors to breaking down bikes for parts. Cleaning, organizing, and sorting are ongoing needs. Stick around long enough and you'll know all about bikes! We do welcome skilled mechanics. If you know how to turn a wrench, we can definitely use you. Show up!

Can my company / class / church group / team volunteer as a group?

Absolutely. We welcome groups in the shop to help us accomplish big tasks. We'll need to schedule this (likely outside of shop hours) - and ask that you contact us well in advance. Other ways your group can assist us include hosting bike donation drives or sponsoring and helping with community bike rodeos and safety events.

Are donations tax deductible?

Yes. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and can provide a receipt for your donation.
