May Is National Bike Month
May is National Bike Month!!! We are excited about bikes year round, but it’s pretty cool that a whole month has been designated to celebrate the two wheeled life. Thanks to The American League of Bicyclists, there are scores of events throughout the nation that can keep us motivated to ride this month. Check out some of the many events planned nationally through the League, and get motivated to ride more locally as well.
First up, aside from open shop time on the 4th, our Sunday ride on the 5th will bring families from Salisbury Academy to The Pedal Factory. We are super excited to host this ride with the Jaguar community, and look forward to students, teachers and parents riding together through town. The ride is still open to all - so please join us and welcome SA to the ride.
May 11th brings another Let’s Ride Rowan session to the area. Held at the Knox Middle school track from 10-12, we will work with youth to ditch the training wheels and ride for real!!! Free and open to all. Pre registration suggested.
Yep, May is definitely special - we celebrate the bike, and we celebrate our mothers. It’s fitting that a ride should honor Mom. She probably helped you get on two wheels for the first time, and she’s continued to help you find balance in life ever since. Join us for the Salisbury edition of Cyclofemme, happening on Sunday May 12th at 2:30 pm. Honoring all women, this edition of our Sunday Social ride will pay homage to the many female forces that make the world a better place. We will take a casual paced ride through town, starting and finishing at The Pedal Factory. The Chickweed crew will be on hand to give a little preview of their upcoming event in July. Chickweed is a celebration of “indestructible women” everywhere, with local artists and talent coming together for a concert that benefits Prevent Child Abuse Rowan. We will provide a bike for their event to be raffled or auctioned, so you don’t want to miss your chance to bid and buy tickets for the July show!!!
And finally, if you haven’t heard, The Cheerwine Festival is back again! It’s the 18th, which is an open shop day for us, but it’s not all business as usual. To join in the spirit, we will have Cheerwine ice cream at the shop for $1 a cup, a Cheerwine bike for raffle, and a HUGE sidewalk sale!! Bikes, frames, gear and accessories will be available at a discount. This includes light sets, locks, T shirts, water bottles and cycling caps. Select Kids bikes for $10 donations, just in time for Summer!! Stop in and see us on your way to/from the event. We will happily hold bikes for you if needed.
