We are on a roll! The Pedal Factory Bowl-a-thon was a success!

Saturday was the perfect day for a bowling party get together at Woodleaf Lanes with over 100 of our closest friends. Coming together to raise the funds necessary to get us underway, we are proud to say that The Pedal Factory’s first bowl-a-thon was a big success. We spent over two hours rolling gutter balls, making strikes, laughing, enjoying each other and supporting the Salisbury cycling community. Blazin’ Blues Bob kept everyone entertained as announcer extraordinaire, handing out an abundance of door prizes thanks to some generous local sponsors. All that bowling definitely worked up an appetite, but fortunately our Salisbury Cold Stone, CiCi’s Pizza and Chik-fil-A restaurants were kind enough to donate coupons for free food items! They are probably going to be a little busier in the coming weeks!!

Fantastic door prizes were also given out to a few extra lucky bowlers, thanks to Ashlee’s Embroidery, Harrison RV, Grease Monkey, and Woodleaf Lanes. The big draw of the day was obviously our bike raffle. This highly anticipated event saw Cindy Akers and Clif Sorel each walk away with an awesome Jamis Hudson bike, given by our friends at Skinny Wheels Bike Shop and Bob Paolino. We kept the fun going all afternoon, with trophies given for most gutterballs, lowest score, high score, and the loudest team award. At the end of the day, it was all about raising the funds to really help make a difference in our first year of operations. We really appreciate everyone who came out to support us in our cause. We have worked hard to make The Pedal Factory a reality, and thanks to all our friends, donors, and local support, we are getting really close to opening our doors to the community! It’s so exciting to see the results of our efforts, and speak with people who will really benefit.

One of our bowling teams was Bangkok Downtown and friends, which included a single mom whose children had just received bikes for Christmas. When she learned what The Pedal Factory was all about, everything really clicked. She told us that she had no idea how to help her kids with their new bikes, and so they hadn’t really ridden them yet….she said she could really use some guidance! This is what it’s all about for us...making a difference and getting people on bikes! Having fun together along the way is just an added bonus! Look for us at another event in Downtown Salisbury next month, Wine About Winter. It’s bound to be a good time and will give much of our community its first glimpse into our space at 218-B S Main St. See you there!!
