Cranksgiving 2018 Wrap-Up

In its inaugural year, Cranksgiving - Salisbury NC was a success. While the crowds may not have been overwhelming in size, they were huge in enthusiasm!

There were a total of eleven participants: eight rode, one walked, and two remained behind at the shop to keep the doors open in case dropped in late. (A more than seasonal drop in outside temperature most likely kept some who expressed interest from showing up at the door.) Manifests and maps to three different grocery stores were provided. The stores were selected on safety and ease of access.

After signing in, participants fueled up on coffee (provided by Backcountry and Beyond), doughnuts, muffins, and fruit. At around 10:00am, everyone grabbed a manifest and headed out to the store of their choice.

Riders started returning shortly after 11:00 and unloaded their bounty into two bicycle trailers. Our two shop monitors had kept busy helping some folks who dropped by needing assistance with repairs on their bikes. Everyone stopped around noon to enjoy a lunch of turkey sandwiches (also provided by Backcountry and Beyond) and pizza (provide by Woodleaf Lanes.)

Afterwards, the trailers were pulled over to Rowan Helping Ministries, where they were unloaded and accepted graciously. Thanks also to Mean Mug Coffee (for providing a pickup point for drop offs and coffee for those needing a caffeine boost) and to Harris Teeter for providing two gift certificates.
